Podcasting as a training tool

If you are charged with the noble mission of training people in the organization, podcasting can be worth considering as an appropriate tool in the situations where the information is constantly updated. It can help you to:

  • Deliver the same information to all subscribers (eg. employees, customers, students) at the same time.
  • Reinforce and expand what people learned in seminars, workshops, self-study and online courses. Listening to the summaries of the key points can be an effective way to review the material and prepare for a test.
  • Provide supplement to the training (bonus material not covered in a classroom or the training program)
  • Provide the information to people who cannot attend a training session (lecture material, key points, audio of the presentation)
  • Replace content-only portions of training programs (eg. lectures) that are primarily used to deliver the information and frees the time for activities based on interaction, practice, and feedback.
